What you need to know prior to your appointment with Ms. Delaney
For appointments, please contact the Dublin Shoulder Institute office where our staff will arrange a consultation for you.
All outpatient appointments take place at Suite 4, UPMC-Sports Surgery Clinic (on the ground floor). Surgeries are performed at UPMC-Sports Surgery Clinic, Beacon Hospital and Blackrock Clinic.
You will receive a reminder SMS prior to your appointment and you will be asked to confirm your appointment. Failure to confirm your attendance will result in the appointment slot being given to another patient.
It is helpful if you have a referral letter from your GP or physiotherapist.
If you have already had imaging of your shoulder, you must either bring the actual images (usually on a CD) to your appointment or have them available on an online platform much as Affidea or Alliance. Your doctor or physio will NOT have already sent the images in for you. Ms. Delaney needs to see the actual images (not just the report) in order to diagnose and treat you optimally.
During your appointment, you will be asked to remove your top so that your shoulder can be examined completely. A sleeveless top/string vest can be left on for the examination if you are more comfortable that way.
Payment
Payment is due at the time of consultation. When you make your appointment, you will be informed what the consultation fee will be. Your insurance company may cover some of this, depending on your policy, and a receipt will be provided to you which you can use for reimbursement with your health insurance company.
A cancellation fee is not charged, however we would greatly appreciate you advising us with as much notice as possible if you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment, so that another patient may benefit from that time slot.
Appointment timing
Appointments are realistically scheduled for all patients, mindful and respectful of time. During their appointment, each and every patient is given whatever amount of time they need. The nature of medicine and surgery is not always predictable and delays might happen. Your understanding is appreciated. In the event that clinic is running significantly late, we try to contact patients to advise of possible appointment delays. Patients are most welcome to call a couple of hours before their appointment to check how close to the scheduled time their appointment will occur.
For your first appointment, please arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled time of your appointment to allow time to complete the necessary registration.
